About the conference
The Australian Mathematical Sciences Student Conference is an annual conference for Australian postgraduate and honours students of mathematical sciences. The conference aims to bring students together, enabling them to communicate their work, facilitating dialogue, and encouraging collaboration, within a friendly and informal atmosphere.
Registration
Registration is $20 for AustMS members, and $30 for non-AustMS memeber. To register, visit the UoNOnlineShop. Via/Mastercard required for online payment. In the "Company" field please include the name of your university. Attendees need to submit talk titles and abstracts via the abstract registration system.
Please email the conference email directly with any dietary/other requirements after registering.
Financial Support
Thanks to the generous support of AMSI and AustMS, students attending the conference may apply for reimbursement of up to 100% of their expenses. This includes budget accomodation, flights or other transportation, and conference registration. Priority will be giving to speaking attendees. Applicants need to be a member of the Australian Mathematical Society (which is free!). For membership details, visit www.austms.org.au/Membership.
All requests will be processed by AustMS via the online submission process here. Funding from both AustMS and AMSI will be allocated from this application - you only need to apply once.
The deadline for applications for financial support is June 2nd 2014.

Talk Information
Talks will run for 20 minutes with an addition 5 minutes for questions. Talk titles and abstracts should be submitted via the abstract registration system.

The conference will be held in the Mathematics "V" Building of the University of Newcastle (Callaghan campus). A map of the campus can be found here.

Transportation
Getting to the University of Newcastle
Buses operate between Newcastle city and the university's campus, the most direct routes being 100 and 226. The closest bus stop to the conference venus is Mathematics Building, Ring Road, Callaghan.
Warabrook train station on the Hunter line and is located at the edge of the campus. From here either take the free university run shuttle bus (operatoring on a loop around the campus) or take a 10min walk to the mathematics building.

Sydney Airport to Newcastle
For those arriving at Sydney Airport we recommend taking the train to Newcastle. Take the
Airport & East Hills train from Domestic/International Airport Station to
Central Station and then the Newcastle and Central Coast train from
Central Station to Newcastle Station. From Newcastle Station it is an
easy walk to the recommended hotels. For more information and/or to plan your exact trip times

Alternatively, there is the Happy
Cabby Airport Shuttle Service which you will need to book in advance.
Newcastle Airport to Newcastle
For those arriving at the Newcastle Airport may take a taxi to Newcastle. The
taxi rank is adjacent to the arrivals area of the terminal. Newcastle Taxis can be contacted
directly, free-of-charge, on the dedicated taxi phone located in the arrivals end of the
terminal.
Alternatively, you can catch the 130 or 131 bus from the Newcastle
Airport to the Newcastle Station. From Newcastle Station it is an easy
walk to the recommended hotels. For more information and/or to plan your exact trip times see

Local Transportation in Newcastle
Newcastle Taxis: bookings can be made
online or by calling 133 300 within Australia.
Newcastle Buses: the free green 555 Newcastle
Shuttle Bus runs every 20 minutes, seven days a week, on a continuous loop around the city
centre.
